Pianegonda, official partner of Terrazza Cinematografo by Ente dello Spettacolo at the Hotel Excelsior, had the privilege of designing and creating the prestigious 2024 Robert Bresson Award. 

This year, the award was presented to the renowned director Marco Bellocchio, highlighting the significant presence of our design brand at the 81st Venice International Film Festival.

The Robert Bresson Award, now in its 25th edition, was presented to Marco Bellocchio on Saturday, August 31st, for his unique ability to explore and portray the spiritual and human dimensions through the art of cinema. The award, conferred by the Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo and the Rivista del Cinematografo under the patronage of the Dicastero per la Cultura e l’Educazione e del Dicastero per la Comunicazione della Santa Sede, is a prestigious recognition for those filmmakers who, with sincerity and intensity, have successfully depicted the challenging journey in search of the spiritual meaning of life.

Giuseppe Tornatore presented the award, the first director to receive this recognition in 2000. Tornatore emphasized the historical and symbolic importance of the award, which honors a body of work capable of delving into the depths of the human soul and addressing social and moral issues.

Marco Bellocchio, visibly moved, accepted the award crafted by Pianegonda, expressing his gratitude and reflecting on the importance of dialogue between believers and non-believers — essential elements to the art of cinema. The director recalled the influence of Robert Bresson on his career, emphasizing how the rigor and simplicity of the French filmmaker profoundly shaped his artistic journey.
